What does it mean to be Witch
I believe Witches to be the wise folk, naturalists, healers, custodians, teachers, storytellers, and spirit warriors. They are the keepers of the secrets, finders of the path, and protectors of all things natural. They use nature’s magic with the intention of a specific purpose.
Kitchen Witch
What does it mean to be a Kitchen Witch? A Kitchen Witch also called a cottage or hearth witch, is someone who makes their magic in the kitchen and the home using food and everyday items as magical tools. The Kitchen Witch can center his or her energy through the making of magical meals and creating sacred spaces at home.
Green Witch
What is a Green Witch? A Green Witch also known as a Herbal Witch, or a Garden Witch is a witch whose practice focuses on nature, using natural materials and energies. Green Witches are often skilled herbalists and may enjoy gardening and wildcrafting as part of their practice. Green Witches are often quite attuned to the cycles of nature and might (or not) practice astrology to enhance this connection. A Green Witch is often also dedicated to an environmentally friendly lifestyle. To a Green Witch, all-natural places are sacred, and reducing her damaging human footprint on the Earth is more than a lifestyle choice but a sacred duty.
In my mind, there is a blurred line between a Kitchen Witch and a Green Witch. A Kitchen Witch desires the best ingredients in her kitchen in which to feed her family and put her energies into so she will, most likely be a gardener, a forest forager, or a farmer while a Green Witch comes to the kitchen to preserve the growing things she has cultivated and gathered with her hands, to use in the winter, either as food or as medicine. I believe I live in the space between these two formidable woman types who create their homes without hesitation in a purposefully natural way.
Hedge Witch
Then there’s a Hedge Witch who is another solitary practitioner of the herbal arts; both herbal and spiritual. She is the one you can visit when you have a headache, or the baby has a diaper rash, or you maybe are looking to break a curse. A Hedge Witch is both a Green Witch and a Kitchen Witch. A Hedge Witch doesn’t belong to a coven. She doesn’t follow the paths of any one sect or any organized religion. Her craft is all her own, usually handed down from family, and friends, or learned from the forest and her research. You will not find two Hedge Witches that are the same, each follows her path.
You are the Devil
Which Witch am I? That is a question I ask myself every day. Back to the beginnings of my memory things have been known to me. I can look back now, and I know I have been intuitive all my life. So much so that as a child I would say things to my grandmother that would have her screaming such things at me as, “You are a liar!” and “You have to resist that, it’s not a gift, it’s from the Devil.”
Not a Witch at All
My father says I’m a Star Child High Being who volunteered to come in and help with the transition of the planet. I just know that the Natural Esoteric Teachings feel like home to me, and Jesus feels like a brother who made a great sacrifice so I could come forward to speak.
Domestic Goddess
There have been other ways to describe this blended life of which I am, one of the descriptions that I’ve heard myself called is “Domestic Goddess”. After the expanse of years of living my life intentionally in a natural magical way, with the intentions of the natural things and putting my family in the center of my life; with the intention of environmental sustainability, food responsibility, and the sharing of my lifestyle to the younger generation, the way I had come to describe myself is like this; I had, for years, declared myself a Green Wife.
Now, before you go and get all up in arms about the wife part let me tell you. This day and age has tried to minimize the effects of a woman in her home. Society tries to drag a woman out of her sacred space and throw her into the rat race. If that’s where you want to be then enjoy your life. I do not enjoy a rat race, even if it’s a good one. I love being in my home and crafting my home.
I am a Hedge Witch and this is my Story
Further life experience and self-discovery have led me to the truth of who I am, I know now that I am a Hedge Witch. I am here today to share my beliefs and my lifestyle along with some practical ideas on how you can start your journey into my Hedge Witch lifestyle if that is your goal.
Like many of my age and experience, I am relearning and learning my use of power, taking my power back, and healing from trauma through nature’s power of witchcraft.

Also, did you know a “housewife” is a pocket? A lady kept her sewing needles, thimble, and other small items that she felt were important enough to gather together and keep track of in a “housewife”, it was usually tied about her waist with ribbon. There are many days I feel like a pocket stuffed full of many important small things. These items are going to be pulled out of the housewife and shared with you one by one throughout this collection of information.
